There are special arrangements for athletes, coaches, officials and media representatives at the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games to come to the UK, if they have been accredited by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).

Olympic/Paralympic Games Visitors Visa

Is for athletes, coaches, officials and media representatives at the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games. They will be given leave to enter into the UK in this category provided they have been accredited by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG). This type of Visitor Visa is also known as the “Games Family Members” who want to come to the UK before and / or, during the Games.

Please take note that this visa does not replace the Olympic Identity & Accreditation Card or Paralympic Identity or Accreditation Card. Games family members must apply for these cards through their responsible organizations.

Travel to the UK before 30th March 2012:

You need to apply for a Visit Visa to the UK if you wish to travel to the UK before the 30th March 2012.

Travel to the UK after 30th March 2012 up to 8th November 2012:

However, if you wish to Visit the UK from the 30th March to 8th November 2012 then you may Travel to the UK without a visa. You will be granted with a multiple entry visa which would be valid until 8th November 2012 from the date it was issued.

Please note that even though you are issued Multiple Entry Visa, on each Visit to the UK the maximum period allowed is for 6 months only.

Games Family member Visitors Visa

An ‘Olympic or Paralympic Games family member’ is a person who has been accredited for the 2012 Olympic or Paralympic Games by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG). Games family members include athletes, umpires, technical and support staff, broadcasters, and other people associated with the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Travel to the UK before 30th March 2012:

If you want to come to the UK before 30 March 2012 for a reason related to the Olympic or Paralympic Games, you should apply for an Olympic/Paralympic visit visa.

Travel to the UK after 30th March 2012 up to 8th November 2012:

If you meet the requirements to be an Olympic or Paralympic Games family member visitor or an Olympic or Paralympic Games family member child visitor, you can seek permission to enter or remain in the UK without a visa between 30 March 2012 and 8 November 2012 only.
You can visit the UK in these categories for a maximum of 6 months, but your visit must end on or before 8 November 2012.

Sports Visit Visa to the UK

Sports Visit Visa to the UK will be granted to an amateurs or professionals coming to the UK to take part either as an individual or as a team in a specific event, tournament or to the members of the technical or support staff of amateurs or professionals, who are attending for the same event or to polo grooms or sports training. This category does not form part of the Olympic Event in the UK. The leave that will be granted for a Sports visitor visa will not extend beyond 6 months period. If you do not meet the requirements to be a Sport Visitor Visa to UK, you will need to apply under Tier 5 (Temporary workers – Creative and sporting) of the points-based system.
